The story of the terroir of St-Drézéry began thousands of years ago… And that of Mas de Carrat in the 1960s, a decade of utopic ideas. It’s the story of the meeting between a patch of land and a penniless young man who believed in his dreams and his ability to make them come true.
At that time Carrat was, in his words, “a heap of stones at the top of a hill with a view of the sea”. But passion and perseverance can move mountains, however stony. By sheer physical effort, the inhospitable wasteland was gradually transformed into a magnificent vineyard.
