Our history

The story of the terroir of St-Drézéry began thousands of years ago.

In the 1960s

It’s the story of the meeting between a patch of land and a penniless young man, Louis Spitaleri. At that time Carrat was, in his words, “a heap of stones at the top of a hill with a view of the sea”. But passion and perseverance can move mountains, however stony. By sheer physical effort, the inhospitable wasteland was gradually transformed into a promising vineyard.

In the early 2000s

The Mialanes family fell in love with this wine estate, with its Florentine countryside feel and picture-postcard views. Guided by a quest for excellence and a desire to protect the surrounding nature, they changed their farming methods to practices that respect the soil, plants and biodiversity. They renovated several plots, supplementing the historic grape varieties with carefully selected new ones and planting an olive grove.

2022

Mas de Carrat's wines and olive oil were awarded organic certification.
